About the wood

I have secured a source for quality American White Oak barrel staves. It is from these staves, that would otherwise go into making quality full-size barrels, that the barrel bung is created. By only using a fraction of the wood making up a complete stave, I am able to use the best parts of the wood to construct each barrel bung. The wood I currently use all comes from within about 100 miles of La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Pictured above are some white oak staves cut down to about 2 inches across before being made into Barrel-Bungs and 2 smaller toasted pieces of white oak.
